Former Aston Villa Star’s Sensational Goal Stuns Fans: Why They Might Regret Selling Him for Just £5m!

Former Premier League icon Micah Richards heaps praise on former Aston Villa man, Jadon Philogene. To everyone’s surprise, Aston Villa decided to sell England’s U-21 star Philogene to Hull City in September last year for £5m despite him impressing during pre-season.

The no.23 of Hull City recently scores a phenomenal goal against Rotterdam and is again in limelight. Richards, speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, lauds the youngster saying,

It was ridiculous… wow. A little bit of freedom, a little bit of flair to even try it. The audacity to do that… and then the execution was just sublime. So difficult to do.”

Gary Lineker then asks the former Aston Villa defender whether he liked Alejandro Garnacho’s overhead kick against Everton or Philogene’s sensation more, he replied

“I think more people could do that (Garnacho goal). I don’t think enough people could get the meg, the chop and the rabona all in one (like Philogene). That is harder to do.”

Will Aston Villa regret selling Philogene ever?

The Villans allowed Jadon to leave after the arrival of Moussa Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen for £51.9m. Besides this, Villans have a tightly packed attacking department in their ranks which includes some really in-form players.

Leon Bailey, John McGinn, Nicolo Zaniolo, Jacob Ramsey, Morgan Rogers and Diaby all are vying for playing time in forward areas. However, if Philogene continues to impress at Hull City, there may come a time when Emery have a regret of letting him go. It will be decided by the time though. Aston Villa are currently in the top four of the table and in the mix for next season’s Champions League spot. They recently defeated Fulham 2-1 away and will be awaiting to host Nottingham Forest at home on 24 February.
