Chelsea could see many of their players leave in the summer in a mass exodus. Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen have their contracts till the end of the season which are yet to be extended. Cesar Azpilicueta’s situation was same as well, but the captain recently signed an extension. However, Rudiger and Christensen are yet to pen new contracts. Moreover, both the center-backs are heavily tipped to leave in the summer. But former Chelsea player Paul Canoville thinks that the Blues already have a replacement of Christensen.

Andreas Christensen came through the youth ranks of Chelsea, and cemented his place in the senior team. The Dane has so far made over 150 appearances for Chelsea in over six-and-a-half seasons. The center-back’s Chelsea career has mostly been a successful one. He lifted an impressive six trophies with the Blues, which include a Champions League winners medal. But Christensen’s time at Chelsea looks to be over as he has reportedly agreed to join Spanish giants FC Barcelona at the end of the season.

Tuchel has time and time again highlighted Christensen’s importance, but could lose him now. However, former Chelsea winger Paul Canoville has provided a solution to Christensen’s departure. The winger feels Chelsea need not splash big to replace the outgoing Dane. Canoville says the West Londoners already have the player to step in the boots of Christensen.

Andreas Christensen looks set to start a new chapter in his career. He is ready to lead the backline of Barcelona from next season onwards. However, Chelsea have suffered losses as Christensen leaves for free as his contract expires by this summer. Canoville feels Chelsea should act smart and rather look for an answer within the club for the center-back’s replacement.

Paul Canoville, who played 31 games for Chelsea thinks the club should look to its academy stars. Chelsea have heavily relied on their academy in recent years which has yielded results as well. Canoville has suggested the name of another Cobham talent, Levi Colwill to make it to the first-team to fill in the void which will be left Christensen’s departure.

Writing on his Twitter account, Canoville said, “Andreas has been superb for our club Chelsea since coming from the academy and learning [his] trade on loan. European and world champion. Wish him well with Barcelona”.

However, Canoville gave his verdict on Chelsea center-back Colwill who is on loan at Huddersfield Town. “Levi Colwill is going to be by far the better player!,” added Canoville.

Colwill has immense talent to make to the senior side of Chelsea as expressed by Canoville. The 19-year-old center-back has played 26 times for Huddersfield already in the EFL Championship. Moreover, he has helped them keep 11 clean-sheets in those 26 outings. Levi Colwill is surely a talent for the future, but has attracted a decent offers from other clubs as well. Chelsea will surely take a note of the views shared by Canoville while planning for Colwill’s future.
