Since the takeover of the Chelsea football team, BlueCo has spent a huge amount of money on young talents. Over the years either these talents showcased their talents on the pitch for the blues or sometimes they failed to live up to their full potential. But there is no doubt that every player needs some time to live up to his potential. Sometimes time is one of the factors or sometimes the influence of playing style and the manager is the factor for a growth of a player’s full growth. One of the examples is Moises Caicedo.
Moises Caicedo is probably having the best time in his career
Last season Chelsea signed Moises Caicedo from Premier League side Brighton for a British record transfer fee of £115m on an eight-year contract. The Blues beat Liverpool in the race to sign Moises Caicedo and eventually able to sign him in the last summer. However, the initial stage was not good enough for Moises Caicedo with Chelsea as the Ecuadorian international failed to get the rhythm on the pitch and ultimately failed to give his best. But as the season progressed, the 22-year-old started giving his best and finished the last season with good performance in his 48 appearances across all competitions.
This season is something different so far for the former Brighton man under the new manager Enzo Maresca. Caicedo has been involved in every premier league game so far and till now the 22-year-old managed to keep an average rating of 7.5 in ten matches across all competitions. The former Brighton man is doing great under the new manager and continuously giving his best.
Caicedo was brought into English football in 2021 by Premier League side Brighton from Ecuadorian club Independiente del Valle. The 22-year-old spent two seasons over there before moving to Chelsea last season. At that time Graham Potter was the manager of the Brighton team when Caicedo joined the seagulls. Under Potter, Moises Caicedo had decent growth before understanding the game more under Roberto De Zerbi.
Former Chelsea boss Graham Potter praised the performance of Caicedo
Recently, Graham Potter admitted that Moises Caicedo is a world-class talent and Chelsea are now getting what they were looking for from a £115m player. Chelsea might be seeing the real Moises Caicedo now as the midfielder is having the best form in his life so far. The former Chelsea and Brighton boss also believed that Moises Caicedo has the ability to overcome challenges. It can be shown by his performance either in recent times with Chelsea or in Brighton.
The new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is using Moises Caicedo brilliantly. Maresca is using Caicedo for the defensive midfielder position. However, in Brighton Caicedo used to play more as a box-to-box midfielder, where he loves to go high up the pitch. But in Chelsea, he was more like a holding midfielder. There is no doubt that the 22-year-old is doing great in his new role. That clearly shows the versatility that Moises Caicedo has within him.
Apart from these Graham Potter also talked about the intelligence and physical attributes of Moises Caicedo. Caicedo is very strong on the pitch. Talking about the tactical foul, Caicedo is very good. His intelligence to control the game is very much clear on the pitch. These are all the attributes that Graham Potter has mentioned recently about Caicedo.
Chelsea really needed someone who could provide good stability in the defensive midfield area and ultimately help the Blues to win matches. The last two seasons were not good for the Blues as they were out of the Champions League. So, a continuous good performance from Moises Caicedo is something that every Chelsea fan will expect in the future.
