Arsenal are working hard to end their long awaited drought of winning Premier League title. However they failed to win the title for second consecutive year. Gunners lost their title by a narrow margin of two points in 2023/24 season to Manchester City. In the next season the North London club will hope to finally break City’s streak and bring the trophy to Emirates. However recently their manager Mikel Arteta has been linked with City to replace Pep Guardiola after the end of 2024/25 season. It has also been predicted by supercomputer that Arsenal are heading to another heartbreak next season.
Arteta to replace Pep Guardiola next summer
Former City full back Danny Mills believes that Mikel Arteta will be perfect fit as City’s next manager. Both of the spanish coaches will be in their final year of their respective contracts this season. Guardiola has admitted that he is close to leaving than staying. The Spaniard will leave City after transforming them into a scary team across the Europe. Guardiola helped City to get their hands on the Champions League title for the first time ever in 2023. He also created history by making City first team ever to win four premier league titles in a row. After dominating England for nearly a decade, Guardiola may be on his way out in 2025 summer.
Mills believes that Arteta is the perfect candidate to replace Guardiola. Mills said that Arteta has worked with Pep and he knows how City play, more than that he can arrive at City with same intesity as Pep which makes Arteta an ideal candidate to be City’s next manager.
Former City full back went on to praise Guardiola for the awesome job he has been doing for City. Mills said that it will surely be difficult to replace someone like Guardiola. It is hard to replace coaches like Arsene Wenger, Jurgen Klopp or Sir Alex Ferguson because these coaches are so unique and its almost impossible to copy their style of play or their intensity.

Mills also gave an example of how Barcelona suffered after Guardiola’s departure. He continued that City need to look for Pep’s replacement soon and even believes that City have already started to look into that matter.
Arteta’s time at Manchester City
After retirement from professional football Arteta had three choices. He had options of leading Arsenal academy, assisting Pochettino at Tottenham and being Guardiola’s assistant at City. In 2016 Manchester City appointed Arteta as assistant to their manager Pep Guardiola. Arteta won two premier league titles, one Fa Cup title and two Carabao cup titles as Man City’s assistant manager. In December 2019, Arteta left City and took charge of Arsenal. Arteta has been able to do a good job for Gunners and has transformed them into title challenging team.
Supercomputer predicts about 2024/25 Premier League
According to Opta Analyst, Arsenal may again fall short of winning the league title next season. Arteta almost caught Guardiola in 2023/24 season. Unfortunately he lost the title by only two points. According to supercomputer, this may happen again as City have the easiest run-in compared to all other 19 teams in the league. If City are able to win the title again in 2024/25 season it will for the fifth consecutive time and seventh time in last eight years.
Arsenal will start their season on August 17th in a home fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Gunners will face Tottenham and Manchester City on fourth and fifth fixture. Both of these important matched will be away fixtures for Arteta’s side.
