Former Liverpool forward Divock Origi has been labeled as the worst signing of Serie-A. The Belgian forward joined AC Milan from Liverpool on a free transfer in the summer transfer window.

He rejected many lucrative offers to join AC Milan in the summer. However, it has not yet worked for the forward in Italy.

A DIFFICULT START TO THE LIFE FOR DIVOCK ORIGI AT AC MILAN

According to an Italian journalist, Alvise Cagnazzo has labeled former Liverpool striker Divock Origi as the worst signing of Serie-A this summer. The Belgian forward spent eight years at Anfield. He still enjoys the cult hero status at Liverpool. However, he has failed to replicate his success in Italy with AC Milan. The forward continues to make his contributions from the bench.

He has failed to cement his starting place in the Serie-A side. Divock Origi chose not to renew his contract with Liverpool. He left the club because he wanted to start matches for a top side. However, it is not going according to plan for the forward. Cagnazzo said,

At 27 years old, any player, especially a striker, should be at their peak. But Origi seems to already be on a downward curve in his career.”

THE BELGIAN MIGHT ALSO HAVE HURT HIS CHANCES OF GOING TO THE WORLD CUP

Divock Origi has not had a great start to his life at AC Milan. He has made four appearances off the bench. Former Chelsea striker Oliver Giroud has been preferred by Stefano Pioli. Hence, it is getting difficult for the Belgian to start a game. Origi is also again struggling with injury issues. These injury issues have prevented his proper acclimatization to his new surroundings.

Hence, there are now chances that the Belgian will miss a chance of going to the FIFA World Cup later this year. The report also adds that the forward is also a doubt for the Champions League game against Dinamo Zagreb. Alvise Cagnazzo has also added that the manager Stefano Pioli is slowly starting to understand the reasons for Liverpool letting him leave on a free transfer.

Hence, if he does not start or play enough games, Divock Origi might miss the bus to Qatar for the FIFA World Cup. Liverpool fans dubbed him their cult hero. The forward helped them win numerous titles including the Champions League. However, for him, the AC Milan journey is not working out well.
