Former Liverpool man Jamie Redknapp praised Jurgen Klopp for his tactical change against Bournemouth

Former Liverpool man Jamie Redknapp lauds Jurgen Klopp for his brilliance against Bournemouth. Redknapp was highlighting on the idea of Klopp to play Darwin in central role during the second half. Klopp looked on in frustration at half-time as the game was 0-0. But a big second half, with doubles from Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota ensured Liverpool came away with a big three points. It was rhe second half that German wanted to see from his brigade. Though, a huge credit of that goes to Darwin Nunez’s change from wing to centre forward role.

Speaking about that change on Sky Sports, Jamie felt that tactical switch from Klopp was the making of the entire performance in the second stage. He said,

I looked at this game at half-time and thought it could be a tight one. I thought it could go either way, but in the second half, Nunez came and played as the central striker to give Liverpool that physicality. It was a big moment and Jurgen Klopp deserves credit for that.”

With Salah off to AFCON, Klopp needed his forwards to lead from the front and they did. It was enough to tell in the first half that they were trying but it was Nunez’s change of position that brought the difference. The Uruguayan has been excellent in a lot of games this season and by adding goals. He now has 20 goals and assists in all competitions this season so far. When Liverpool play like they did today in that second half and use Nunez as the battering ram he can be, they are hard to beat. If they can continue this run, a second title for Klopp will not be very far away this season.
