Former Liverpool man Joe Cole says he regrets joining the club in his career

Former Englishman Joe Cole recently says that he regrets joining Liverpool. The move to Liverpool for Cole never worked for him. Though, he is not the first player who did not worked out at Anfield. There had been many transfers that did not work out due to some reasons. Cole arrived with so much promise on a free transfer at the club. However, on his first game he was immediately sent-off against Arsenal and the rest is history. He never really got to grips with life at Anfield and moved onto pastures new returning to West Ham United. Moreover, those were the dark era for the club under Roy Hodgson which fans will never wish to remember.

Speaking on the Obi One podcast, Cole reveals that he has some regrets about his move to Merseyside. He continued,

I had a choice between Liverpool or Spurs because Arsenal pulled out and I just couldn’t go to Spurs. I just couldn’t. It would have made sense, Harry Redknapp was the manager, I lived in London, they had a good team, half my pals are Spurs fans. I just couldn’t do it.

My daughter was just born and Liverpool is a great club. It didn’t work for me there but it is a great club, an institution globally and if I could have my time again, I would go, no wait.”

The England international’s time with the Reds is certainly a horrible memory for everyone. It surely makes sense that he has such feeling for his transfer. Injuries were definitely a hindrance in his progress with the club. He failed to stand out on the expectations of the fans barring a few fleeting moments.
