Chelsea are in great form right now under their new manager Enzo Maresca. The whole team is playing some good football including their star player Cole Palmer, who is also having a good season once again. Palmer is one of the most crucial players in the Chelsea squad due to his current form. Former Liverpool midfielder and Scottish professional football player, Graeme Souness, recently said that he would not be surprised if Spanish giant Real Madrid made a bid of around £150m for Cole Palmer in the next transfer window.
England international Cole Palmer is enjoying his time at Chelsea
Cole Palmer has been an important part of the Chelsea squad since joining last season from Manchester City. The 22-year-old joined Chelsea last summer on a seven-year contract for a transfer fee of £40m, with some later add-ons. Recently the England international extended his contract by signing another contract which will keep him at Chelsea till 2033.
Cole Palmer had an outstanding season in the Premier League last term. The 22-year-old had more goal involvement than any other player in the Premier League last season and ultimately won the Young Player of the Season award in the last season. Palmer finished second both in the top goal scorer and top assist provider in the league behind Erling Haaland and Ollie Watkins respectively. His brilliant performance at the club level caught the attention of former England manager Gareth Southgate. Southgate ultimately selected Cole Palmer for the England squad for the Euro 2024.
Will Real Madrid go for Cole Palmer in the next transfer window?
Despite having close to a decade left in his contract, Real Madrid could try their luck to sign Cole Palmer. The Spanish ain’t have no issue with the money. So, Real Madrid could go for Palmer and spend a huge amount of money if required. So, that’s why former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness said that he would not be surprised if Real Madrid made a bid of around £150m for Cole Palmer. Cole Palmer has a huge talent and Real Madrid would definitely love to keep someone who has that potential within himself.
According to news published by Metro, Graeme Souness said in Daily Mail,
” I’m sure there are other players Man City could have cashed in on. Chelsea paid £40m for Palmer but if Real Madrid come knocking next summer and he is still at the level he is showing, I would not be surprised if they got an offer of £150m for him.”
He also praised Palmer’s playing style. And also said that the England international has silky skills, athleticism, and a fabulous football brain. At the age of 22, this is a huge potential and Real Madrid would definitely appreciate someone like Cole Palmer in the team.
Cole Palmer already scored six goals and bagged five assists in seven matches in the Premier League. However, the England international is yet to score his first goal in the Uefa Conference League despite making two appearances for the Blues. Cole Palmer set the goal for Noni Madueke at Stamford Bridge on Sunday in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest to save a loss for the Blues.
