LIVERPOOL

Former Liverpool player Fabio Borini has finally settled

Liverpool

Fabio Borini was Brendan Rodgers’s first Liverpool signing back in the summer of 2012. Brendan Rodgers and Fabio Borini had both worked together before at Chelsea Academy. Liverpool signed Borini from Roma for €13.3 million including bonuses. Borini made 25 league appearances for Liverpool scoring 2 goals in his 3-year stint at Liverpool.

Fabio Borini had a tough time at Liverpool

Fabio Borini had a terrific start to his Liverpool career, he scored in his debut against F.C. Gomel in Europa League Qualifiers but that was his only goal for the club in his first season. He departed on loan to Sunderland the next season scoring 7 times for them in the premier league and then returning to Liverpool. Underwhelming performances where he scored just once in 18 appearances forced Liverpool to sell him to Sunderland. Since leaving Anfield he has had stints at A.C. Milan and Hellas Verona as well and is currently plying his trade for Turkish League side Karagümrük where he had a tough 2021/22 and could only score 3 goals.

Change of Fortune with the change of Manager

Andrea Pirlo become the new manager of Karagümrük in June 2022, and for Fabio Borini, it resulted in a change of fortunes. He returned to his goal-scoring form. Halfway through the season, the Italian has scored  13 goals in 19 appearances across all competitions only behind former Everton and West Ham striker Enner Valencia in the goal-scoring charts. Pirlo’s style has definitely helped Borini to express himself in front of the goal. The 31-year-old striker has finally found his feet and looks settled in Turkish League at Karagümrük. He is finally fulfilling his potential in Turkey.
