According to reports, Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong is considering a move to Chelsea in the January transfer window. Both Manchester United and Chelsea were interested in signing a Dutch international during the summer window. Chelsea have received a message from the player’s camp about his move to Stamford in January.
Reports suggest de jong is getting frustrated about not getting enough game time this season. He has been on the bench most of the time but whenever he comes on the pitch, he shows his worth. Barcelona manager Xavi prefers starting 19-years old Pablo Gavi over the Dutch international.
De jong rejected a few lucrative offers from top Premier League clubs to stay and play in Catalonia. But the situation seems to have backfired as the player is considering a move to Premier League.

According to ESPN, clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool are interested in acquiring the service of Frenkie De Jong. De jong’s camp would consider a good offer from Premier League clubs in January.
However, Chelsea seems to be winning the race as they have received indications from the player’s camp that he is keen to join Stamford Bridge.
Barcelona have been demoted to Europa League after their 0-3 Loss to Bayern Munich on 26 October. De jong would have preferred Chelsea over Manchester United during the summer transfer window because the latter doesn’t play Champions League football. Now Barcelona themselves will have to play Europa League. This could be one of the reasons why de jong would consider an offer from Chelsea.
Chelsea are looking for a central midfielder while N’ Golo Kante is out injured for 4 months due to a hamstring injury. His contract runs out next year. While Jorginho’s contract is valid till 2023 and is yet to extend it.
