Fulham Defender Tete shares his experience of facing Chelsea

The Athletic reported, Fulham defender Kenny Tete claimed that “he was desperate for a break at times” against Chelsea last week.

The Dutch defender presented a masterclass to help Fulham earn a draw at Stanford Bridge. Tete had the huge task of facing Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk, and Noni Madueke. But the defender was equal to his task and helped his team to keep a clean sheet.

However, Chelsea Manager Graham Potter stated after the match that Mudryk was suffering from illness.

Due to his performance, he was awarded the man-of-the-match trophy. He won 10 duels, made seven crosses, and won four fouls.

Despite his good performance, Tete had claimed that it was an extremely tough evening.

The 27-year-old had a stellar performance against the Blues and he further stated :-

“It was a heavy game for me. At some points, I was just like, ‘Let me have a break!’

“When you play Chelsea, you are always motivated. You know they have a lot of signings. You know you are going to play against expensive players.

“I had it before, in France, against Neymar. It had that experience. I just had to be calm and do what I had to do.”

“To stop someone gives me a good feeling. I’m a defender. I have to stop attackers.”

Despite making his first start, Mudryk will be hoping to return his best against West Ham this weekend.

Chelsea are currently struggling but with the firepower recruited in the January transfer window, they will surely find their winning form.
