In modern-day football, Chelsea are one of the biggest spenders in European football. After the takeover, they have bought so many youngsters. Cesare Casadei was one of them. The Italian wonderkid came through the academy of Inter Milan.
He was one of the brightest players in Italy. He also represented the Italian national team from under 16 to under 21 level. In 2023, he also received the ‘golden ball’ and the ‘golden boot’ award in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
These achievements showcase the quality of Casadei. But the Chelsea squad is bloated with midfielders. They have Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, Enzo Fernandez, Kiernan Dewsburry-Hall, and Renato Veiga. Although there is a lot of competition in the middle of the pitch, we believe Cesare Casadei should get some chances to prove himself.
After joining Chelsea, Casadei played 11 matches for the Blues. In the previous era, Mauricio Pochettino used to trust him. The Italian midfielder got some opportunities under the Argentine. His performance was decent.
Who is Cesare Casadei?
The young Italian started his career at a club called Cervia. After that, he joined a club in Cesena. In 2018, he agreed to join Inter Milan’s academy. After playing at the youth level, he became a well-known figure in Italy.
Soon Chelsea bought him as a future prospect. At first, the owners thought he would thrive in the West London club. Later, it became difficult for the Italian midfielder. So, they loaned him out to Reading FC. He spent one season on the second-tier English side. Once he came back to Chelsea, then Leicester City took him on loan. Soon Casadei won everyone’s heart at the King Power Stadium.
After seeing his form, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino called him back at Chelsea. He gave some chances to the young Italian midfielder. After that season, Todd Boehly sacked Pochettino, and Casadei struck in limbo with Chelsea.
It is being reported that the Blues tried to sell him in this summer transfer window, but few clubs showed in signing the young Italian midfielder except Fiorentina. Currently, he has a market price of 10m. According to the hard tackle, when Chelsea were discussing with Napoli for Victor Osimhen, they proposed an exchange deal that included Casadei and Romelu Lukaku.
Current situation at Chelsea
Chelsea bought a lot of young players. Some of them got loaned out to their sister club Strasbourg, and some of them got sold in this summer transfer window. Recently, they sold Angelo Gabriel to a Saudi club called Al Nasser. After joining Chelsea, he didn’t even play for the Blues. In his first season at Chelsea, he got loaned out to Strasbourg. After the loan spell, they sold Gabriel. So, these incidents are making bad impressions on the young players.
Everyone thought that Chelsea might be building a team for the future because they have signed a lot of young players, which include Tyrique George, Angelo Anselmino, Marc Guiu, Cesare Casadei, Omari Kellyman, Gabriel Slonina, Deivid Washington, and many more. If the Blues are buying these players to loan them out or to sell them, it is completely wrong.
An owner should not see their club as a place for doing business. He has to develop the club in terms of infrastructure, facilities, youth development, and other things. The young players are the future for any club. If Chelsea sell them, they might be losing some of the future stars. We all saw how the Blues missed out on Kevin De Bruyene and Mohammed Salah. Later, both of them became the star players of football. So, these things should not happen.
