The Indian team will surely be looking forward to their future captains. Virat Kohli already quit captaincy from all formats and Rohit is growing older and will soon quit captaincy too. There is also a scenario of split captaincy and it is somewhat tried and tested by BCCI. Gautam Gambhir feels Hardik and Shaw can be considered for India’s captaincy in the future.

Gautam Gambhir views on Hardik and Shaw

His statements,

” Hardik Pandya obviously is in line. The reason I’ve picked Prithvi Shaw, I know a lot of people talk about his off-field activities, but that is what the job of the coach and the selectors are,” Gambhir said. Prithvi Shaw is one I feel can be a very aggressive captain, a very successful captain because you see that aggression in the way a person plays the sport.”

Hardik Pandya is already seen as the frontrunner of Rohit at least in t20is. He is being handed over the role of captaincy in absence of Rohit a number of times. He possesses good leadership skills too. He led GT to its first title in the first season itself. He is a bowling all-rounder and can be very beneficial for the team. He is mainly considered for the shorter format.

Prithvi is young but a good talent. He was considered at a very young age in the Indian National team. He as a player played well whenever given a chance. Shaw led the under-19 team to a World Cup victory as well. He was in the headlines two years ago and was suspended for a few months but this does not show his caliber. According to Gambhir, he is an aggressive player and a perfect sportsman to lead his team in the future. He is young so he has more chances.
