Yesterday Arsenal clenched a 0-1 victory against their London rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The Gunners are back at the top of the League after their win against the Blues, with Manchester City trailing close behind them.

Gary Neville was impressed with Mikel Arteta’s tactical changes and the willingness to change a few things up as the Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey took some of the long throw-ins instead of the left-backs.

There were things for me in the first half that were quite interesting. Watching the long throws from Arsenal. I liked it.”

He further added,

“Because Arteta is obviously a coach that likes progressive football. He likes the idea of playing through the thirds. His team plays great football. But the idea he was willing to put a long throw in there against Chelsea with Partey or against other teams. And I like it. And I like the fact they won a game from a set-piece,”

Neville said in the Sky Sports Podcast.

Arsenal’s statement win again London rivals Chelsea

Arsenal’s win against Chelsea brought the Gunners back to the top of the Premier League table. The Arsenal center- back Gabriel Magalhães tapped in a Saka corner over the line to seal the North London team’s win against the Blues. It could be looked as another scrappy win by the Arsenal team but what’s most important is that they had bagged the three points. This was another test for the Arsenal team who means serious business this season. The Gunners were the better team in the match but did not carve enough goal-scoring opportunities. The Blue’s attacks as well as the midfield was not up to the mark last night. Arsenal managed only two shots on target despite having fourteen chances.

Chances for Arsenal to finish at the top

Arsenal are still at the top of the table with two points clear off Manchester City, but is it enough to make them win the Premier League? Many football pundits have expressed their thoughts on this matter. Gary Neville is still very much in doubt that Arsenal can win the League as he sees City as a top team.

In this moment, I feel like they are bang on to finish top four. I feel they’ll fall behind [Manchester] City by some distance towards the end, because City are the top team. That wouldn’t be any shame. If Arsenal finish second, that would be a magnificent achievement for Mikel Arteta.”

The former Manchester United player expressed his views.

The rival fans and the pundits believe that the real test for Arsenal will come after the World Cup when the players will return from their national teams, and maybe will not be able to show the same consistency as they are doing now. The Arsenal fans can only hope that team lives up to their fan’s expectations and continue to perform well even after the setbacks that they are probably going to face. Arsenal have a Carabao Cup match against Brighton on Thursday before they play against Wolves as their final game before the World Cup break.
