Height of the 2023 F1 drivers – a look at the 2023 grid

Lewis Hamilton Toto Wolff

F1 2023 season will commence on 5th March 2023 starting with the Bahrain Grand Prix.

The 2023 F1 grid will comprise 20 drivers once again with many fresh faces joining the grid for the first time. Many of these new drivers include Nyck de Vries, Logan Sargeant, and Oscar Piastri. We will also be seeing the return of Nico Hulkenberg as a full-time driver in 2023.

Regardless, we will be looking at the physical features of these drivers. We will be taking a look at the height and weight of the 2023 drivers’ line-up.

It may be unnoticed but the height and weight of the driver are also important factors for making a car race ready.

Normally, the shorter and smaller the driver is the better it is for the car designers. This guarantees an optimal package, also in the aspect of how to direct the airflow around the helmet.

As expected, drivers’ weight also needs regulation as mandated by the FIA to support the sport’s minimum requirement of weight.

Who are the tallest drivers on the grid?

The sport features some pretty tall drivers and topping the chart with 1.86 meters or 6’2″ of height are two drivers – Esteban Ocon and Alex Albon.

They are followed closely by Mercedes’ new star George Russell with an impressive height of 1.85 meters just ahead of Nico Hulkenberg who stands at a height of 1.84 meters.

The American rookie – Logan Sargeant also stands on the taller side of the grid coming in at 1.81 meters. Another rookie, Oscar Piastri follows closely with 1.78 meters.

Who are the shortest drivers in F1 currently?

This driver from Japan joined the grid back in 2021 and has his hands on the title for being the shortest driver on the grid. Yuki Tsunoda comes in at a height of 1.59 meters and is currently the shortest driver on the grid and it seems it will remain like that for a while. The AlphaTauri driver is 29 centimeters shorter than Alex Albon and Esteban Ocon!

The driver who comes closest to Tsunoda in terms of height is his upcoming teammate Nyck de Vries. The Dutchman stands at a height of 1.67 meters.
