“He’ll start this year flat out” – Jenson Button predicts on Lewis Hamilton

Jenson Button has made some predictions for the Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton.

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton suffered a disappointing season in 2022. The Briton for the first time in his career went winless for an entire season.

Further, the seven-time world champion failed to keep his teammate at bay. A newly joined George Russell managed to outscore Hamilton by 35 points.

The reason for the disappointing run in 2022 came down to the new technical regulations and the car. The W13 was nowhere near its predecessors in terms of competitiveness thus ending the eight-year streak of Mercedes winning the Constructors Championship.

George Russell turned out to be the only positive for Mercedes in 2022. The 25 years old managed to score the only win for the Silver Arrows in 2022 winning the Brazilian GP.

Jenson Button, the former teammate of Lewis Hamilton also assessed the performance of the duo in 2022 and made some predictions for this year:

“Mercedes have given him a winning car for so many years,” Button told Sky Sports News.

“Last year they obviously didn’t, but the car did win a race, so you’d say at the end of the year, they were strong.

“And I think Lewis was on it. His performances were very consistent through mid to end of season, very, very quick.

“I think he’ll start this year flat out. He’s going to be on it from the word go.

“I look forward to seeing that – it’s going to put a lot of pressure on George Russell, but I think it’s a good pairing and I look forward to that fight.”
