Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson is set to miss the Red Devils training camp due to coronavirus after effects.

The 24-year-old was forced to withdraw from the European Championship due to a hip injury. After recovering from the injury, he contracted coronavirus, which has now led him to leave the red’s pre-season training camp.

“Dean Henderson will miss Manchester United’s Scotland training camp while he continues his recovery from prolonged fatigue after contracting a COVID-19 infection three weeks ago.He is expected to be training again soon,” said a club statement.

Moreover, he was not the only person at the club to contract the virus. United’s pre-season match at Preston last Saturday was called off after 9 positive cases were identified. However, the players did return to training on Saturday, but only after further testing gave all clear.

Will Manchester United’s Dean Henderson favourite to start in the Premier League in place of  David De Gea?

Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea, who has been United’s number one goalkeeper for a long time, is under serious threat from Dean Henderson as he is not living up to the expectations of the club. His form has gone down in the last few years. He has just joined the club in Scotland on Monday after coming back from his post-Euro break.

De Gea has featured on 36 occasions and Henderson has 25 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United. But the club’s manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be preferring the latter for the start of the new campaign.

So far, the new signings for United Tom Heaton and Lee Grant have played the warm-up games for the club.

Manchester United will be facing Everton at Old Trafford in their final pre-season

encounter on Saturday before beginning their English Premier League campaign against Leeds United, a week later. The is going to take place at Leeds home ground on August 14, 2021.
