India will kick off the new year with 2 white ball series against Sri Lanka. It will be a crucial series keeping in mind the ODI world cup 2023. BCCI announced the squad for this series and there were many surprises. One of them was the exclusion of Sanju Samson from the one-day international squad. But this time the reason for resting him is different.
Sanju is one of those players who were very unfortunate in terms of selection in the playing XI. Sometimes he used to be selected but was benched for the whole series. He got very less chance in proving his caliber on the international stage. But in the domestics stages, he proved his worth over a long period. So fans and genuine cricketing minds also feel happy when gets a chance to showcase his talent for India.
He has been rested from the ODI series against Sri Lanka. It was marked that BCCI sacked him from the squad but later on the reason was different. In a recent Instagram post he mentioned, that he is going to have a child soon. So it is obvious that he took a rest from this series for this purpose. The caption from the Instagram post was
