Shimron Hetmyer will make his Pakistan Super League(PSL) debut this season. He has signed up for Multan Sultans as a replacement player for the remainder of the tournament. PSL Is set to resume in Abu Dhabi from June 1.
The six-team tournament was stopped after 14 games in March after seven people tested positive for COVID-19. The franchises were allowed to add two more players to their squads in Saturday’s virtual players draft.
On Saturday, May 22, all the six franchises were provided with an opportunity to modify their squads online and pick two new players for their teams. After the online session, Pakistan Super League organizers released an official statement stating that the franchises have chosen a total of 12 players.
Further, it is learned that the teams including Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars haven’t selected the 20th player and will be going ahead with a 19-member squad.
Hetmyer signs for Multan Sultans
Multan Sultans signed the West Indies big-hitter along with opener Johnson Charles. Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s star-leg spinner Rashid Khan will return to Lahore Qalandar for the PSL 6.
Hard-hitting left-handed batsman Hetmyer will be making his PSL debut, while wicketkeeper-batsman Charles had earlier played for the Quetta and Multan teams. Rashid was part of the Lahore side in February before he left to honor international commitments.
Rashid then went on to play for Sunrisers Hyderabad in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 which was suspended in May due to positive Covid-19 cases in their camp.
