India not pressing the panic button as regards Rohit Sharma

tennis player

While Rohit Sharma may be in isolation after testing positive for Covid-19, India are not pressing any panic buttons as of now.

Rohit has two roles to play in the Indian side, skipper and opener.

Currently, India have only Shubhman Gill as their opener but now been reinforced with the arrival of Mayank Agarwal as well.

India have decided to adopt the wait-and-watch approach for Rohit and are positive that he will recover in time.

Mayank Agarwal will only open if Rohit faces any fitness issues at the last minute.

And if we talk about captaincy options, India has no problems on that front.

They have three options who can lead India in the absence of Rohit- Jasprit Bumrah, R Ashwin and Rishabh Pant.

Rohit can come in and play at any point in the match when he tests negative for Covid.

Chetan Sharma, who is currently in Ireland overseeing India vs Ireland T20I series will fly out to Edgbaston to be with the team management.

Other selectors are in India where they witnessed the Ranji Trophy final between Madhya Pradesh and Mumbai.
