According to Gautam Gambhir, Team India will have home advantage against Pakistan in the upcoming T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held in the United Arab Emirates and Oman from October 16 to November 14. India will play their first match against Pakistan on October 24 in Dubai.
Playing IPL ahead of World Cup will be an advantage: Gautam Gambhir
On the Star Sports game plan show, Gautam Gambhir mentioned that the Indian team led by Virat Kohli will get home advantage in the India-Pakistan match. He argued, “It is very difficult to predict the T20 format but if you say that Pakistan plays a lot of cricket in the UAE, but I think India will have a home advantage there because, before this World Cup, Indian players have been playing in the UAE for a month.”
The Pakistan team is aware of the conditions in Dubai because they play a lot of international cricket there. None of their players will be involved in the IPL but all the matches of the second half of the PSL were also held in Abu Dhabi. Similarly, the Indian IPL will be held in Dubai this time.
Gautam Gambhir thinks the IPL will allow Indian cricketers to prepare better than any international series.
He said, “At the same time when you go to the World Cup after playing an IPL standard tournament, you are better prepared. If you go after playing a bilateral series, you are not as ready as you are after playing in the IPL,”
