Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) fielded former captain and star Aussie opener David Warner in the match against Rajasthan Royals on Monday. Instead, English opener Jason Roy made his debut and secured Hyderabad’s second victory with 60 runs in the first match of IPL 2021.

But here comes the question, exactly why David Warner was dropped from the team. It can be said that this star has been dropped due to bad form. But as Trevor Bayliss has said, David Warner may not be seen playing this season.

Warner was not seen at the dugout on Monday but was at the Tim Hotel. Warner did not have any corona or injury! But why he was not on the field. Coach Trevor Bayliss replied.

Warner dropped to give oppotunities to the young players: SRH Coach

We will not be able to reach the final, so we have decided that we will give the youngsters the opportunity to experience the match as well as enjoy the whole process on the field,” Bayliss told a news conference after the match.

Warner SRH, Six Sports

We have a lot of young players who could not be on the field despite being reserved, so we had the opportunity to come and experience the match. And it will continue for a few more matches. We will sit in a couple of days and form a squad of 18 members.

Warner, meanwhile, has backed the team despite being absent. “Dave (Warner) must have been watching the match from the hotel and gave the boys full support,” said Bayliss. Like everyone else, we are all together.

“No decision has been made yet,” Bayliss said of Warner’s future. This is the last year before the mega auction, this kind of decision will be taken later. Warner has done a lot for us over the years and he is a very respected person. And the number of runs he has done, I hope he has the ability to score more runs in the IPL.”
