IPL 2021: RCB defeats Punjab Kings, enter in the play-offs

Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Punjab Kings by 6 runs in an important match of IPL. RCB reached the play-offs as the third team in the current IPL. Chasing the target of 175 for victory, Punjab Kings lost the first wicket by 9 runs in 10.5 overs but lost the match by 6 runs till the end. Virat Kohli’s team won the toss and elected to field. Chahal took 3 wickets for 29 runs in four overs.

Maxwell helps RCB to set the High score

Royal Challengers Bangalore decided to bat after winning the toss in Sharjah today. Virat Kohli’s team scored 164 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Glenn Maxwell top-scored with 57 off 33 balls with three fours and four sixes. Devdutt Padikkal did 40. RCB captain Virat Kohli made 25 off 24 balls with the help of two fours and a six. Moses Henriques took 3 wickets for 12 runs in 4 overs. Mohammad Shami took three wickets in four overs for 39 runs.

In reply, Punjab Kings’ two openers, skipper Lokesh Rahul and Mayank Agarwal, started batting at stormy pace. Rahul was dismissed for 39 off 35 balls. Punjab lost the second wicket for 99 runs in 12.5 overs. Nicholas Puran returned to the pavilion with three runs. After losing two wickets in the 16th over, Rahul’s team came under pressure. Yuzbendra Chahal dismissed Sarfaraz Khan just three balls after dismissing Mayank Agarwal, who scored 57 off 42 balls.

Chahal picked up 3 wickets and made it an easy win

Aiden Markram fell victim to George Garton in 16.5 overs. Markram did 20. After that Shah Rukh Khan and Moses Henriques tried but the team could not reach the desired goal. Shah Rukh was run out for 16 off 11 balls. Moises remained unbeaten on 12 off 9 balls. Chahal took 3 wickets for 29 runs in 4 overs. Garton and Shahbaz Ahmed took one wicket each.

RCB has confirmed the IPL play-off again after last year. Virat Kohli said, “We could not make sure of the play-offs so early after 2011.” So the feeling is great. We have won 6 out of 12 matches. Our goal is to win the remaining two matches and stay in the first two.” Virat claims that the team is getting success only by playing fearless cricket. Siraj, Harshal to Chahal, Shahbaz have all praised Virat. Glenn Maxwell was the best of the match.
