As the two new franchises are yet to open up about their buys for this year’s IPL, some reports are telling that Ahmedabad is already ahead in this race and have completed its three signings ahead of the Mega Auction.
Hardik Pandya has already been chosen to lead the team for Ahmedabad. But, it is coming into the limelight that Shubman Gill and Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan have also been added to the new team.
Although Gill and Khan played important roles for their previous franchises, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders, they were however released during the retention process.
According to a senior IPL official,
Ahmedabad has decided on its players and accordingly informed the BCCI about their draft picks. Hardik, Rashid and Shubman are the three choices.
Ahmedabad also had eyes for the wicketkeeper-batsman of Mumbai Indians, Ishan Kishan. But, the latter decided to join the auction list so that his franchise may buy him again for a good price.
Ahmedabad has also decided to pay Hardik and Rashid the same amount of money, that is, INR 15 crores. They will enter the IPL auction with 53 crores.
Lucknow, as of now, has not mentioned anything about its three signings.
KL Rahul is the only player that Lucknow has revealed as the captain of their franchise.
Ahmedabad franchise has appointed Ashish Nehra as head coach, Vikram Solanki as team director, and Gary Kirsten as team mentor.
Lucknow has the likes of Gautam Gambhir as the team mentor and Andy Flower as head coach.
