Ahmedabad franchise, on Monday, received a letter of intent (LOI) from the BCCI.

The new franchise already started work on building up its team management. As per the news, Ashish Nehra has been roped in as head coach while talks are going on regarding star all-rounder Hardik Pandya as captain for the franchise that has been bought by CVC Capital.

If all goes well, it will be a major boost for Pandya who has recently fallen out of favor of the selectors.

It is also known that Afghan spinner Rashid Khan is undergoing talks with both Lucknow and Ahmedabad for weeks.

According to sources, Ahmedabad is currently leading the race. Ishan Kishan is the preferred wicket-keeper for the franchise.

The two new franchises have to put up three names (one non-Indian and two Indian) before the start of the Mega Auction scheduled on February 11-12. But, it can be pushed back due to rising COVID cases in the country.

Lucknow has confirmed KL Rahul as captain of the Lucknow franchise. It is also known that the Sanjiv Goenka- the owned franchise has backup plans in Australian Marcus Stoinis and South African Kagiso Rabada if they fail to claim Rashid Khan.

Both Yuzvendra Chahal and Rahul Chahar are in demand as leg-spinners as the grounds in Lucknow and Ahmedabad have big boundaries that are advantageous to leg-spinners.

Shreyas Iyer is becoming an interesting choice as a player in the IPL and it remains to be seen where he will go in the auction. It is said by the sources that most likely he will be picked up by the Kolkata Knight Riders.
