As the latest franchises of Lucknow and Ahmedabad on Tuesday got the green signal from the BCCI to go ahead and make their debut in the upcoming season of the IPL, it was also confirmed by Chairman Brijesh Patel that the Mega Auction will be held in Bengaluru on February 12th and 13th.

But, before the two new franchises were allowed, it was found out that CVC Capital had a connection with two betting companies abroad. This led to an investigation by the BCCI, who after a thorough cross-examination, allowed Ahmedabad to step into the IPL.

According to reports, Sanjiv Goenka’s RPSG Group bid a huge amount of Rs. 7,090 crore for the Lucknow franchise while Ahmedabad was successfully bid by CVC Capital for Rs. 5,625 crores.

The franchises have also been given a budget of Rs. 33 crore to select three players but they cannot pick more than two Indian and one foreign player.

It will continue to do so for two seasons of the IPL after Vivo decided to withdraw itself from the sponsorship.
