Preparation of Ireland Women’s Cricket Team for ICC Women T20 World Cup

Chair of National Woman’s Selector of Ireland , Carrie Archer said,

“What I’m really looking forward to in the ICC World T20 is the fact that it’s going to be broadcast live. It means I actually can watch the game from home instead of following it on ball-by-ball live scoring. It means that as a cricket community it gives us the opportunity to share with other people how exciting and dynamic the T20 format is. Having been to the ICC World T20 before, I know how exciting it is and I really want to share that with others and get other people on board to want to go and play cricket and find clubs next year.”

This shows how much excited and enthuastic Ireland Women Cricket Team is. Playing and representing nation in such tournament boost their self esteem as well as confidence. This paves a path of massive development of that sport at the grassroots level. Hence they want to be at their best in qualifier so that they can participate in the mega-events. They hosted South African Women a few months back . Although they managed to win one t20 out of 3 matches but definitely they polished themselves. In order to gain confidence they participated against Australia and Pakistan Woman’s but unfortunately results did not favor them . They will now play against Scotland before joining t20 world cup preparation camp. They will surely try to win it so that they will gain confidence and momentum to win matches in the upcoming days.

One more advantage is cricket will get more popular in Ireland. Young girl will take up cricket training . The craze for sports will increase. It may become a turning point for cricket as a sports in Ireland. Media will get rights and popularity of cricket will take place . It will be also an inspiring story for many other small associate nations and new nations too. New academies will open if required. Board may think of conducting leagues in future and it may take Ireland cricket to the next stage.
