Is the American Racer all set to replace Nicholas Latifi?

Nicholas Latifi

Nicholas Latifi has underperformed hugely this season being the only driver unable to score even a single point.

American racer Logan Sargeant seems all set to replace Nicholas Latifi at Williams for the 2023 season.

Nyck de Vries subbed Alex Albon at the Italian Grand Prix, outqualifying his teammate Nicholas Latifi. The Dutchman then went on to score points on his debut at the main race. This has now drawn all the attention to Latifi.

F1 world already wants Nyck De Vries to replace Latifi at Williams.

After the Italian GP, the Candian is pushed back to 21 on the Drivers’ Standings. The 27-year-old has failed miserably this season not even scoring a single point.

Now, it seems difficult for Latifi to retain his F1 seat with Williams after the Italian GP.

De Vries on the other hand is under consideration by numerous teams that include Alpine, Williams, and AlphaTauri. Nevertheless, at the moment it seems he will be going to AlphaTauri if Gasly does leave.

This will open the door for Williams academy driver Logan Sargeant to secure a Formula 1 seat.

Sargeant earlier was also mentioned by Williams Team Principal Jost Capito as a possible prospect for the 2023 season.

Furthermore, Capito believes that the American is ready for Formula 1.

The American is on track to obtain his superlicense too. Sargeant needs to finish in the top 5 in the current Formula 2 series to obtain the license and is currently running third.

So, Sargeant can be considered if Latifi is to be dropped for 2023.

However, if Sargeant somehow fails to secure a top-five finish, Williams still has other options to go for. Capito might try to swoop in on Mick Schumacher who has an uncertain future with Haas.
