Jack Grealish responds to Pep Guardiola amidst possible exit from the Etihad!

Jack Grealish could be leaving Manchester City after his constant struggles under Pep Guardiola this season. However, Grealish has responded showing signs of positivity and hinting a probable return to the squad.

Pep Guardiola would sign Jack Grealish for a record  £100 million transfer from Aston Villa. The 28-year old winger made 36 appearances for the Manchester Blues this season. However, Grealish was less impactful in front of goal being able to score merely 3 times throughout the campaign.

Meanwhile, Manchester City also did not have the greatest of seasons. Especially, considering their incredulous achievements last season. Although, City would go on to win the Premier League for a 4th year in a row! However, barely. Arsenal were close till the very last day while Liverpool also gave a tough fight midway through the season.

Moreover, Guardiola’s men would fall short in the Champions League quarter final against Real Madrid. Subsequently, they would lose on penalties. Furthermore, Newcastle would eliminate the Citizens in the 3rd round of the EFL Cup. Guardiola and his men did get the chance to do the domestic double by winning the FA Cup. Although, Manchester United would cause a major upset and lift the famous trophy.

Despite being good, both Grealish and City would endure an average season. Especially, considering their exceptionally high standards.

Pep Guardiola backed Jack Grealish to make a return; Grealish obliging!

Grealish was exceptional in Manchester City’s historic continental treble winning 2022/23 season. However, the winger was unable to replicate his lofty standards this season. He would merely start 8 times in the league under Guardiola this season. Furthermore, Jeremy Doku’s rise made things more difficult for Grealish.

Although, Pep Guardiola was quick to back Jack Grealish. The Spaniard said in May:

“He [Grealish] will be back.

He’s struggled this season. But Jack will be back at the level of last season – I’m pretty sure.”

Subsequently, Gareth Southgate would also drop the England international from the 2024 EURO squad. The 28-year old winger has already returned to City’s training base. Moreover, Grealish is not just enjoying his vacation and resting. The winger is using his time to regain his fitness and make a comeback into City’s starting lineup.

Grealish will be keen to get in shape before the pre-season as City will be touring USA later in July.

28-year old winger’s time at City over?

Manchester City could be closing the exit door on the winger as rumors concerning a possible exit keep spreading. Grealish is a product of the Aston Villa’s academy. He spent a decade at Villa Park as a part of the first team. He would make 200+ appearances for Villa scoring 32 goals!

Grealish has made 125 appearances for City so far scoring 14 times. He is a vastly experienced player who has proven himself in the Europe’s best league. Furthermore, he has 377 appearances at club level and has also won 36 caps for the Three Lions.

Enduring a season full of struggle, Grealish could be on his way out of the Etihad. He would also endure less gametime as Jeremy Doku continued to impress. Reports are indicating that Manchester City are prepared to let Grealish go this season.

Top Premier League clubs are also keen on securing a move for Grealish. Aston Villa are ready to welcome back their homegrown star. Whereas, Arsenal also remain interested for Grealish.

Will the winger stay and fight for his place at the Etihad? Will Pep Guardiola let Jack Grealish go and opt for a replacement? If so, where will Grealish be off to? While Grealish’s future may be uncertain for now, his transfer saga is certainly far from over!
