Jack Harrison will be returning to Everton from Leeds United as Newcastle deem to lose interest in the 27-year old winger.
Sean Dyche’s Everton caught eyes for all the wrong reasons this season. The Toffees would face severe point deductions of 8 points due to breaching Premier League rules. Gloomy days befell Goodison Park as Everton would fight relegation at one point.
However, with Jack Harrison, the Toffees would manage a 15th place finish in the Premier League with 40 points this season. Moreover, Everton’s takeover collapses further left the fans in frustration. Although, Sean Dyche plans to make serious decisions as Everton look to build again next season.
Harrison could have been playing for his parent club Leeds. However, Leeds failed to make it out of the EFL Championship finishing 3rd this campaign. Harrison wants to continue playing top-flight football and was looking likely to make an exit.
Renowned Journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed Harrison to join Everton on loan for another season. Romano confirmed the move with his ‘here we go’ catchphrase and stated:
“Deal done as the two clubs are exchanging documents right now.“
The 27-year old featured 35 times for the Toffees this season scoring 4 goals across all competitions.
Newcastle wanted Jack Harrison before Everton!
A couple of years ago Newcastle were actually pursuing Jack Harrison from Leeds. Harrison was a top target on Newcastle’s shortlist. The Magpies even made an offer of £24 million for the winger. However, Leeds rejected the offer.
Although, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise for the Magpies. Subsequently, they would push for signing Anthony Gordon instead from Everton for £45 million. Gordon has established himself as a starter at St. James Park. He has also won the Newcastle Player of the Season for his 30 G/A during the 23/24 campaign.
Harrison would make a move on loan to Everton in 2022. Aston Villa were also keen on signing the winger. The 27-year old has been good for the Toffees. His versatility on being able to play on both flanks makes him lethal up front. Furthermore, his fluidity as an attacking midfielder makes him more valuable asset to the team.
During his time at New York City FC, Harrison would impress the likes of David Villa and Patrick Vieria. David Villa heaped praise on the youngster stating the anticipation that would build whenever Harrison was in possession of the ball. Vieira, the manager, was impressed with Harrison’s understanding of the game.
Possibility of a trade between the Magpies and the Toffees!
Calvert-Lewin is a proven goal scorer in the Premier League. The striker has already bagged 68 goals in the Premier League. The Toffees could be getting close to £20 million for the 27-year old striker. However, Calvert-Lewin’s goal scoring exploits have rather deteriorated as of late. The forward has also struggled with his fitness recently. Regardless, West Ham are also considering a move for the striker. It will be interesting to say what lies in the future for the 27-year old.
Meanwhile, Yankuba Minteh was on loan at Feyenoord. The 19-year old made 37 appearances scoring 11 goals for the Eredivisie side. The winger has also made 6 starts for the Gambian national teams scoring 3 goals. Minteh is considered as a fantastic prospect and could prove to be an impressive signing for the Toffees.
Everton will have to spend somewhere north of £30 million to acquire Minteh from St. James Park. Will the Magpies let their potential star depart in exchange for an experienced striker?
