Jadon Sancho has had a mixed start after joining Chelsea. The winger did enjoy a really positive start to his life in London. After his arrival, he would go on to replace Mykhailo Mudryk as a starter. He would go on to start four consecutive Premier League games. But now he finds himself on the bench again. As per goal, he was not a part of the starting XI against Panathinaikos and Newcastle. Then, he was not even a part of the lineup in the EFL Cup Round of 16. Fans are starting to voice their concern over the 24-year-old’s situation.
Why did Jadon Sancho not play?
Manager Enzo Maresca made it all clear. The Italian would go on to say that the winger missed the first two games due to ‘tactical reasons‘. With the number of games increasing, it is not possible that he will play all of them anyway. Else, he won’t be able to maintain and play at his top level. As for the EFL Cup game, Jadon Sancho would miss the game due to illness and nothing more. Fans were relieved to hear that. Mykhailo Mudryk would start on the left wing in his place.
What’s next for the Englishman?
The problem with not playing regularly in a top team like Chelsea is that someone else will take your spot. Same is the case for the winger. Pedro Neto has started on the left-flank quite a few times in his absence. At the same time, he has done a great job. Meanwhile, Mudryk is also returning to form. Despite Chelsea’s loss, he was the best player on the field for them. So Jadon Sancho may return to be a part of the squad. But he might not be starting anytime soon. The Blues will play against Manchester United up next. It will be interesting to see if the winger will get minutes against his parent club.
