Jamal Musiala to Chelsea? The Blues Need More Than Just Hope!

Chelsea fans, please brace yourselves. Enzo Maresca’s side looked promising to start the season, before a patch of form colder than a January night at Stamford Bridge. The pressure is mounting on the Blues, who have lost their last four Premier League games and failed to win any of them. Of course, reinforcements, such as confetti at a wedding, are racing from one locality to the next. Everyone has one name on their lips, though—Jamal Musiala.

Yep, it looks like Chelsea are trying to get their former academy star back to London. The question is: Can Musiala really solve the Blues’ mess? Is this just Chelsea throwing money at their problems? Or is it another one? Let’s break it down!

🔵 Chelsea’s Current Form: Trouble in Paradise

First thing, we need to quickly talk—Chelsea’s form has not been good.

It was the Blues’ last victory, December 15 adrift, beating Brentford 2-1. Since then, it’s been a downward spiral:

0-0 draw against Everton
Loss to Fulham (ouch!)
Double ouch as we lost to Ipswich Town.
The 2025 season opened with a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.
I’ve seen fewer slip-ups on a dance floor at a wedding, honestly! Maresca knows reinforcements are necessary, and the squad is out of step. Then come the Jamal Musiala rumors.

🔥 Why Jamal Musiala Could Be the Perfect Addition

Jamal Musiala is a generational talent; we all have to see this.

Now 21, he’s transformed into a goal-scoring machine at Bayern Munich. Resuming in 2018 after sustaining a serious knee injury in October 2017, he’s scored 14 times and assisted six once in just 22 appearances in all competitions. That type of firepower is what Chelsea needs right now.

It would be poetic to bring Musiala back to Stamford Bridge. Before that move to Bayern, right, he was part of Chelsea’s academy. Like the friend you always wiped under your nose in school, the friend that went on to become a millionaire. Regrets? Chelsea has a few.

💰 The Competition for Jamal Musiala’s Signature

It certainly won’t be easy for Chelsea to sign Musiala, though. The competition is fierce.

Manchester City: Guardiola likes his attackers to be versatile.
Liverpool: Klopp knows how to turn a young star into a world-beater.
Arsenal: Arteta’s side is flying, and they will want more firepower.
Real Madrid: Real Madrid is always interested in signing a superstar, so it’s because when they aren’t interested in a superstar?
For this deal to happen, Chelsea will have to open their pockets. Given the form Musiala is in, that price of £90 million can only go up.

⚽ What Would Jamal Musiala Bring to Chelsea?

But let’s be real for a minute—stats don’t lie.

This season, Musiala is directly involved in a sizzling 20 goals (14 goals and six assists). That means Chelsea’s current top creator, Cole Palmer, has 19 goal contributions across all competitions. He would immediately take the top spot if that were only in terms of goal involvement.

He also plays similarly to Vinicius Junior, being driven by worrying about probability and creating chances through dribbling. Vinicius averages 6, going by FBRef, and Musiala is at 5.68 progressive carries per game. This is like comparing Ferraris to Lambos; they’re ridiculously good!

📢 Author’s Opinion: Can Chelsea Actually Get Musiala?

Jamal Musiala back at Chelsea? As a football fan, I’d like to see it. Smooth on the ball, creative, and determined to get his goal when it comes to defending the box, he’s a joy to watch. And of course, Chelsea isn’t the best club when it comes to transfers of late. It’s that person who’s always buying the latest and greatest gadget in an attempt to fix their life only to find out what they actually need is therapy.

Nevertheless, Musiala could possibly bring quality to the attack at Chelsea, but that’s not a fix-all. So, it isn’t stars who build teams; it’s structure and balance and—most importantly—a manager with a plan. Maresca, over to you.
