Jamie Carragher has given his view on whom to succeed Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager. Carragher chose Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone as successor.
Diego Simeone has coached Atletico Madrid for over a decade now. Simeone has managed to win several accolades in his 10 years at the club. He has won the La Liga twice, Two UEFA Super Cups, Two Europa Leagues, and a Copa del Ray. He has also managed to help Atletico reach the finals of the UEFA Champions League twice. Real Madrid defeated them on both occasions.
Jamie Carragher on Diego Simeone
Diego Simeone has had a very decorated career in football. Jamie Carragher is a fan of the Atletico boss. Carragher revealed that he would love to see him succeed Jurgen Klopp as manager one day. The Englishman gave his view on the Argentine when he was asked about Manchester United moving in for him.
“Yes, I think so. He has that stature, Gary (Neville) talks about coming up against him. He has got that presence, hasn’t he? I was talking to someone last night actually about Simeone for Liverpool, talking about when Klopp would leave in a couple of years.
I would love to see Simeone in the Premier League. To see how he plays. Is it because he’s up against Real Madrid and Barcelona, he is always the underdog. If he went to Manchester United and got as much money as anyone, would he play differently? I am not so sure.”
Diego Simeone and Jurgen Klopp have a bit of bad blood between them. The Argentine refused to shake hands with German when the two teams met earlier in the Champions League. The second time around, Klopp refused to shake hands or even notice the Argentine and went on his routine. This bickering does seem like pettiness to the neutral eye.
