Jamie Carragher criticizes Reece James despite ‘good’ performance against Newcastle

Former Liverpool man Jamie Carragher is unhappy with Reece James for his performance in the Chelsea vs Newcastle game. The 24-year-old right back just made a comeback from injury. He was out for most of the last season due to a hamstring issue. Being the club captain, he was only able to make 11 appearances in 23/24. Then, he would also have a surgery that would keep him out longer than required. At the same time, his setbacks in recovery did not help either. He would play in the pre-season this time. But would again succumb to an injury. The right-back would make a return against Liverpool in the game week 8 of the Premier League.

Enzo Maresca’s demand….

Enzo Maresca recently made some comments upon the club captain. And now, Jamie Carragher is totally in agreement with the manager over Reece James. Maresca would reveal that he was unhappy with the 24-year-old’s leadership skills. In fact, he was also considering other alternatives. For instance, Levi Colwill and Tosin Adarabioyo are doing a good job. The current Chelsea captain is still out of touch though. We realize that he may need some time to get back into the flow. But that does not mean that he should slack-off on his duties as a captain.

What did Jamie Carragher say of Reece James?

Chelsea were leading the game thanks to Nicolas Jackson scoring. But they would concede as Alexander Isak managed to score. As per mirror, the 24-year-old was unable to track back and the lack of communication with his teammate was evident. As a result, the Blues would be back on level terms. Football pundit Jamie Carragher took note of the same and is right to slam Reece James. The Chelsea captain could have done a little better and kept his side ahead. Although, luckily, they were still able to win the game in the end. But mistakes like these could prove costly in the long run.
