As Barcelona searches for Marcos Alonso alternatives, Javi Galan has once again appeared on their radar as a potential left back.
The Catalan giants were looking for a new left-back this summer, and Marcos Alonso seemed to be their first priority. Jordi Alba is getting older and does not have a proper backup. Teenager Alejandro Balde is another left-sided fullback at the club, but he is unproven. However, Barcelona have since cooled their interest in Alonso.
Javi Galan is one of the alternatives that have been discussed at the Nou Camp. Barcelona had targeted the Celta Vigo player earlier as well, and it now seems that they are once again interested in Galan.
Diaro AS has now given another update on the Galan saga. Late in the transfer window, the Catalans were considering a bid for the fullback. According to the source, it appears the club has already made contact.
Galan: Good fit for Barcelona?
With less than a week remaining for the window to shut, Barcelona will hope to sign Galan soon. They are aggressively trying to complete their squad after a window filled with signings. Joan Laporta has given his all to sign the players Xavi wanted. It includes the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Raphina, and Jules Kounde along with a contract extension for Ousmane Dembele.
Lewandowski has gotten off to a superb start, with a brace against Real Sociedad in a 4-1 win. Dembele also found the back of the net.
The La Liga giants are hoping to add Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva to their roster, but it looks unlikely at the moment. Regardless, Galan would be another smart addition. The versatile defender can provide backup for Alba, and can even potentially challenge him for a spot in the starting XI.
