Joao Felix is being expected to perform like Chelsea legend Didier Drogba

Felix

Chelsea have announced the signing of Joao Felix on a loan deal from Atletico Madrid. It has also been confirmed that Joao Felix will be wearing the number 11 jersey. Chelsea fans are hoping that he would be able to do justice to the number. Chelsea legends Didier Drogba and Damien Duff were once the holders of this jersey. On Wednesday Chelsea announced the deal of them signing Joao Felix for the rest of the season. The young player also wore the number 11 jersey for his national team at the World Cup. Both Chelsea legends had won numerous trophies during their stints at the club. The Blues fans would sincerely be hoping that Joao Felix will be able to bring in the changes that the team is lacking this season.

Joao Felix is to wear the same number as Didier Drogba and Damien Duff

Chelsea had signed a loan deal for Joao Felix, which was announced on Wednesday. The 23-year-old player was seen talking with the club media. He had commented,

“Chelsea is one of the great teams in the world and I hope to help the team reach their objectives.”

He further stated,

“I’m very, very happy to be here and very excited to play at Stamford Bridge.”

The player would be wearing the number 11 jersey which was once worn by Didier Drogba and Damien Duff. Chelsea had changed a lot since 2003 when Roman Abramovich bought the club. Damien Duff joined the Blues from Blackburn Rovers and helped the club to win two Premier League titles. Didier Drogba was the one to take up Duff’s jersey after his departure in 2006 for Newcastle United. Drogba helped the team to win the Champions League with his famous header in the final.

The number 11 jersey was then given to Oscar after Drogba left Chelsea. Though the Brazilian was unsuccessful to live up to the expectations of the fans. Players like Juan Cuadrado, Alexandre Pato, Pedro, and Timo Werner have all once sported the number 11 jersey in recent years. But they all were unable to live up to the expectations. Fans would be hoping to see Joao Felix shine wearing the number 11 jersey at Stamford Bridge. As all the players who donned the no. 11 shirt had been rather underwhelming.
