Chelsea have completed their first signing of this year’s transfer window by completing Joao Pedro Deal with Brighton. The Deal is now confirmed and completed at a transfer fee of £60 million. With this move the Blues look to strengthen their team before the next season starts. Also, this shows their intentions of how they will plan this summer transfer window.

Last season, Joao Pedro scored 17 goals in all competitions for Brighton. Although it was his first season in the Premier League, he caught eyes of many clubs. Medical tests with the player has also been done and he is set to join the team for the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup in USA.

The 23 year old forward will sign a contract till 2032. He fits perfectly with the style we want to implement at Chelsea.” Blues Sporting Director Paul Winstanley added, “This move reflects our commitment to building a young, hungry squad with the quality and mentality to compete at the highest level.”

At first, Brighton were not ready to sell Joao Pedro in this year’s summer transfer window. However, they respected the player’s desire to move on for a next big challenge in his career. Club CEO Paul Barber has confirmed the deal – “Chelsea have met our valuation, and while Joao is a special player, we understand his ambition. We wish him nothing but the best at his new club.”

Brighton’s Manager also commented on Joao Pedro, “Joao gave everything to the club this past season. His development has been outstanding, and we are proud of the player he has become.”

Although Brighton did not want to sell Pedro this year, They still got good money by this deal. They are planning to reinvest this money in more young players that have already been scouted.

They showed real belief in me and my role in this project.”
