The Blues are said to be interested in a move for Brighton’s Joao Pedro.
Chelsea eyeing Joao Pedro move
It would surely come as a shock if Chelsea do not make any signings in this summer. At present, it is said they are viewing their options, including Liam Delap from Ipswich Town.
Delap is linked with the west London side. He has performed well this whole season. Although he might not be the only attacker from the league among their targets.
The centre-forward position has been an issue for the Blues in recent times. With Pedro Neto changing is role to a number nine after Nicolas Jackson’s injury.
As per reports by TBR Football, the Blues are tracking Joao Pedro. And they will have him on their list. He is a centre-forward who has worried them before. He has scored in his side’s 3-2 away win earlier this campaign.
Again though, the Brazil international isnโt the only centre-forward being looked at by Chelsea. They are also said to be keeping an eye on Viktor Gyokeres at Sporting Lisbon.
They have previously taken talent from Brighton & Hove Albion in Moises Caicedo and Marc Cucurella. And now, it looks like the Blues are also keen to raid Premier League rivals again.
Comparison between Pedro and Delap
Comparison of Pedro and Delap has become the center of interest in the Premier League. Yet the Brighton player could be a better signing for Chelsea than the Ipswich’s finisher.
The 23-years-old has not only played in the top-flight seasons longer than the Englishman. Joao is also a creative forward. While the Ipswich attacker is more of a number nine.
Overall, the Brazilian has played 85 times in the top-division. And the 22-year-old English forward has played 30 games for Ipswich. Delap has a couple more goals compared to Pedro this season. However, he has had more game time, and their xG (expected goals) is almost similar.
