Joe Rodon is reportedly going to join Rennes on loan from Tottenham. The Welsh international will finally get some game time before the World Cup in Qatar this year.
This will also help Spurs clear some wages off the wage bill. However, most of the profit in the deal is likely going to help manager Antonio Conte spend more in the window.
JOE RODON’S LACK OF GAME TIME FOR TOTTENHAM SINCE HIS ARRIVAL
Joe Rodon started his career as a youth product of Swansea City. However, his impressive performances meant he was snapped up by Tottenham in 2020 on a five-year deal. Although, it seems the player won’t stay until the end of his deal. According to reports, Joe Rodon is going to sign for Rennes on loan. However, this loan deal will include a buy option worth £17 million.
The defender has struggled to get minutes on the pitch for the London club. There were even times that he could not even make the match-day squad. At times, regular injuries also have played a part. These might be two major reasons for his departure from Tottenham. However, he is still a great defender in his own right. It looks like all the parties will be benefitting from the deal.
SPURS ARE NOW LOOKING TO GET SALES DONE TO INJECT MORE MONEY INTO THE CLUB.
Antonio Conte has made some brilliant incomings this summer transfer. He has made the signings of Richarlison, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic, Djed Spence, and the loan signing of Clement Lenglet. However, the club has struggled to inject money from sales into the transfer window. The only major departure is Steven Bergwijn to Ajax.
However, Antonio Conte wants one or two players in before the end of the window. Although, the club needs to sell players to make space in the squad. Hence, the club are currently focusing on selling players that are not in the plans of Antonio Conte. Some reports claim Tottenham are looking to sell a total of seven players from the club.
Joe Rodon last season made only 15 appearances for the club. However, his long height and experience of playing in the Wales national team make him a great asset for any club in the world. The defender will hope to impress the French club so he can move permanently to the club next season.
