The Gunners search for a new forward has been seen by everyone and now the latest name on their list is Jonathan David from Lille.
Jonathan David: A unique goal machine
Arsenal is tracking Jonathan David at Lille. With two sources stating that Gunners have competition in signing the player. And that the forward has made a clear choice.
The Gunners are 12 points behind Liverpool in second place in the Premier League. The reason is that the North London club are not clinical in the attack. Liverpool have scored 69 goals, while the other club have only scored 53 times.
The Reds’ star Mohamed Salah is leading the Premier League’s golden boot race with 27 goals. While Arsenal’s top scorer Kai Havertz is with just nine league goals. That alone tells the difference between the two clubs.
Mikel Arteta knew he needed a new forward in the January transfer window. It was after the injury to Gabriel Jesus. Arsenal did make a bid for Ollie Watkins. But Aston Villa were quick to reject it.
TEAMtalk stats that the Gunners still want Watkins. Although, Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is the Premier League club’s top target.
Currently, there is a new player on Arsenal’s radar. According to CaughtOffSide, David is out of contract at the end of the season. That means the London club are hoping for a free transfer to sign him.
Arteta to face competition to sign his new target
Arteta’s side will not find it easy in signing Jonathan to the Emirates Stadium. The reports suggest that there are number of clubs interested in the player. Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain all in race to sign the him.
So far, he has managed to score 23 goals across all competitions. And has 10 assists in 41 matches this season for Lille. Also, he has netted 26 times last campaign. And he also had eight assists in 47 total games with Lille last season.
