Jurgen Klopp Urges Salah for a New Contract

Jurgen Klopp Salah latest news updates as the former Reds manager urges the club to hand the forward a new contract.

Jurgen Klopp On Salah: “I Hope He Stays”

Describing Mo Salah, Jurgen Klopp said that he is “the biggest striker Liverpool have had in modern times”. He hopes his former side will find a way to keep the player and extend his stay a bit longer this summer.

Under Klopp, the Egypt international played for seven seasons. They won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup in that period. During an event where he was appointed as Red Bull’s global head of soccer, he said what was in his mind regarding the winger’s future.

He said,” I hope he stays. He’s the biggest striker Liverpool have had in the modern times. Obviously, there were other really good strikers. He’s a fantastic player, a fantastic human being, an outstanding athlete. The best ambassador your country could have. I hope he stays at Liverpool.”

Jurgen, left the club at the end of the last season. He was in charge for nine years. He was also questioned about Virgil van Dijk’s and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future as well. He provided his support to the players, especially to Trent as he is linked to a move to Real Madrid. Also laughed off some suggestions of his former players could join the Red Bull stable.

Jurgen Klopp On Salah and Liverpool’s Situation

Speaking on the Reds situation, he said, “I’m so happy I’m not in charge of that situation and dealing with those questions every week.

“I would love Salah, van Dijk and Trent, all of them to extend their contracts. They do not tell me what is going on. When Virgil is 41 or 42, I’m sure he’d love to play for New York. I’d welcome him with open arms.

“I’m not sure we could afford to sign Mo. Trent? I still can’t believe that you could discuss that he can’t defend. I watched a few press conferences. Oh my God. Yes, he did not play well against Man Utd. Imagine if you made such a fuss of him when he played well as when he did not play well. It would be such a cool planet.”

Praising the current manager Arne Slot on the Premier League leaders form, he claims he hasn’t had any regrets about his exit. “I’m so happy for them that they do so well,” he said.

“There is not 1% part of me that thinks I should be there. I am more than happy not to there. I wish them all the best and I watch as many games as I can. They are maybe the best-balanced team in the world right now.”

Klopp On Man City’s Charges

Winning the only domestic title under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool were dominating the world at that time. If Manchester City are to be found guilty to the 130 Premier League charges of breaching the competitions rules, it may not be far from the possibility that the Reds are awarded two more titles. They finished second twice to City under Klopp during the time of the charges’ investigation.

Klopp said that he did not think that a resolution may arrive in the coming weeks regarding the case. He also mentioned that the matter had come up the end of his time at Anfield.

” We had this discussion when I left.

“I haven’t spent a lot of time (at my home) in Mallorca because I’m always flying around the place.

“If it would happen I told all the people who wanted to just book a flight (to Mallorca), I will buy the beer. Whatever we have to celebrate, e do it. We would have our own parade in my garden. We will see, I didn’t follow it all.”

Author’s Opinion

It seems Salah is yet to agree any terms on his stay with the Reds. Although some reports suggests that there may be a breakthrough very soon this summer. Let’s hope to see Mo’s magic in England a bit more beyond this season as well.
