Juve beat AC Milan to the signing of Tommaso Mancini

Juventus

AC Milan were among the clubs in for Tommaso Mancini this summer. However, a deal for the Vicenza striker now looks to be off the table. Their arch-rivals Juventus have jumped on the opportunity though.

Last Saturday’s friendly matchup with Vicenza was supposed to be Milan’s opportunity to finalise the acquisition of Mancini.

Milan worked hard to beat the competition for Mancini. They were ahead of a number of elite clubs including rivals Juventus in the process. A deal in the range of between €2 and €3 million was supposed to be done. The discussions appeared to be moving forward at an advanced stage, but they have now broken down.

According to a report from Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Milan has opted to end the negotiations for Mancini. According to them, the player’s father’s requests were deemed as too much. Moreover, he took way too much time for Milan’s liking.

However, despite the off-field issues in the transfer, Tommaso Mancini remains a highly rated prospect with a high ceiling.  The 18-year-old Italian striker, who made his first team debut for Vicenza last season, is one of the most promising youngsters in Italy. He made nine appearances for the team, displaying talent and drawing interest from several elite clubs in Europe.

Juve Swoop On Mancini

Now Juventus have reentered the field and finalized a deal. Journalist Nicolo Schira says they are preparing to sign the gifted teenager to a four-year contract. Borussia Dortmund and Roma were also considering signing the 18-year-old after the deal with Milan fell through, but the Old Lady emerged victorious.

The fee has emerged to be in the region of €2.5-3 million Euros. Mancini will arrive at Turin soon, where a decision will be made if the prodigy will be integrated into the youth system. The alternative would be sent out on loan to get first-team experience.
