Former India captain and legend, Kapil Dev has given his views on Virat Kohli and the selection committee.

The World-Cup winning skipper said that a player should not be kept in the team simply based on his stature.

Players who are performing well and doing better in every game must be given more chances.

With the senior players not playing up to the mark, the youngsters are not able to get games.

That’s why Kapil Dev wants the selection committee to pick more youngsters for the team.

When they start outperforming Kohli, he will then face pressure which will bring out the best in him.

Kapil Dev also added that if the team management can drop Ashwin from the team, then why not Virat Kohli?

He further went on to say that Kohli is not playing in his old style with which everyone is familiar.

This year, Kohli underperformed in the IPL for the Royal Challengers Bangalore where he managed only two fifties.

Also, Kapil Dev wants more in-form players in the team.

Players like Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant have performed much better than Kohli in the recent past.

On the other hand, former India opener Wasim Jaffer also supported Kapil Dev’s comments and said that youngsters should form a part of the team.

He also said that Kohli will play better once he faces a bit of pressure from the new players.

But, he also pointed out that India should continue to play the brand of cricket that they are playing today.

So, with the big guys coming in for the 2nd T20I today, India should not focus on changing their game plans.
