Karim Benzema is out for several weeks following an injury

Karim Benzema is facing several weeks out of the playing eleven following an injury to his thigh. Benzema got injured in the game against Celtic which will see him out of action for Los Blancos for almost four weeks. Benzema hobbled off the pitch with only half an hour played at Celtic Park. Eden Hazard came into the pitch as a substitute for Real Madrid. Hazard had a great game coming off the bench. He contributed a goal and an assist for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti initially didn’t divulge much detail about the extent of the injury. However, after medical tests took place, the club released a statement saying,

“Benzema has an injury to the semitendinosus tendon and a strain to the quadriceps muscle in his right thigh”.

Moreover, the club also asserted that his recovery will be under continuous assessment by the club. A serious injury would mean Benzema missing out on France’s Nations League match against Austria. However, the injury isn’t that bad and according to Marca, Benzema has set his sights on a return in the match against Osasuna on 2nd October.

Speaking in the post-match interview, Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti downplayed the injury to Benzema. He assured that the problems were not too detrimental to Benzema and Madrid.

Ancelotti praised the performance of Eden Hazard who came on as a substitute for Karim Benzema. Moreover, Ancelotti has backed the many superstars in the Real Madrid squad to step up the attacking threat in the absence of Benzema. Ancelotti is confident that the likes of Vini Jr, Hazard, Asensio, and Mariano can help the club continue their decent run of performance in the La Liga in the absence of their main center forward Karim Benzema.
