Khvicha Kvaratskhelia: Real Madrid Fanboy or EPL’s Next Star?

Picture a kid so good at football that every club in the world wants you: Liverpool, PSG, Chelsea, and even your childhood crush Real Madrid. Welcome to the world of Napoli’s flying Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who it is looking very much like is auditioning himself for every club’s dream team. This guy is such a scout’s fantasy: 30 goals and 29 assists in just 107 appearances. Jaw-dropping.

According to rumors, a January move might be on and if. But wait, there’s a twist! And already, Khvicha has his dream destination in his head, and it’s nothing of the sort. Let’s dig in.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia: From Georgia to Global Stardom

Skip forward to the summer of 2022, and a little-known Georgian kid signs for Napoli for just €10-12 million. Now, a year later, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is perhaps Europe’s biggest name and attracting interest from all the continent’s biggest clubs.

But while clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, and PSG are reportedly keeping tabs on him, Khvicha’s heart seems to beat for only one club: Real Madrid.

Yes, you heard that right. The man would probably put ‘Khvicha’ before his name and become ‘Khvicha Ramos’ if he could, only because he loves ‘Los Blancos’ so much.

Liverpool, PSG, Chelsea… or Real Madrid?

The Athletic’s David Ornstein reports that Liverpool could look to make a move for Kvaratskhelia in the January transfer window. But they’re not alone. Furthermore, PSG and Chelsea are also moving in on Llorente like cats looking to take their adversary.

This is what’s bad—Khvicha’s mind is obviously made up despite so much interest. Before his move to Napoli, he openly admitted:

“And the goal right now, my biggest dream, is to win the Champions League with Real Madrid.”

It’s like going on a date and already declaring that you love this other person undyingly. Talk about commitment issues.

Even the football world’s most trusted transfer whisperer, Fabrizio Romano, gave this fanboy moment its seal of approval. In 2023, the Georgian athlete told Khvicha that Real Madrid was his favorite team in his childhood.

Should Liverpool Make Their Move?

So maybe now I have my two cents—or two Euros (yes, I’m keeping it European-themed). I’d be slightly cautious if I were Liverpool’s recruitment team. Why? Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is a man with his eyes on the Bernabéu.

He’s brilliant, fast, and unpredictable on the pitch, yes. Then really, do you want to bring in someone who might be wishing that Los Blancos had a phone number they could call and ask if a job could be made available? Dating someone who continues to look at their ex’s Instagram stories… a little risky, isn’t it?

But football is unpredictable. If Liverpool (or another side) can persuade Khvicha that Anfield or Stamford Bridge is where he should be, we could be on the verge of a new chapter in his already brilliant career.

What Does Napoli Think?

Napoli, understandably, wishes to fight tooth for a tooth in order not to have him leave. Losing him midseason could be catastrophic; he’s been instrumental in their success. However, should a top club have a cheque that stacks up, Napoli could find it hard to turn it down.

Let’s be honest, Kvaratskhelia will probably run faster than he’s ever run on the pitch if Real Madrid does show interest.

Author’s Opinion: Is Khvicha Kvaratskhelia Worth the Hype?

In every single aspect, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is a pure joy to watch as a pure football fan. Dribbles, his vision, his flair… it’s like seeing a kid play FIFA in cheat mode. If I were a club manager, though, I’d be a little wary of his obsession with Real Madrid. It’s sort of like falling for someone who has a poster of their ex above their bed—not great for a real relationship!

Still, I can’t blame the guy. To any club that did call me, Los Blancos first, I’d say bye-bye faster than you can say ‘Hala Madrid!’
