KKR posts throwback picture, Dhoni fans irked

The fourth Ashes Test between Australia and England ended in a draw as the hosts couldn’t break the last partnership between Stuart Broad and James Anderson.

All Aussie hopes of making a 4-0 finish went up in smoke as England’s last pair batted out their full quota of overs.

An aggressive field placement was done by Australian captain Pat Cummins that had eight fielders in close-in positions to put pressure on the last England batting pair.

As soon as the 4th Test of the Ashes between Australia and England got over on a draw, the celebratory messages started pouring in on social media for the English Team.

Everyone also lauded the Test cricket format and appreciated how it’s still the best format in cricket. While everyone was applauding Test cricket, a tweet from the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders took the world by storm and rocked the social media of everyone.

As the image went viral, the IPL franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders compared it with their throwback picture of 2016 where Gautam Gambhir had a similar field set for MS Dhoni.

KKR had restricted the opposition to just 103/6 and an under-pressure Dhoni scored just 8 runs off 22 balls.

While KKR fans lauded the picture and called it a “T20 master-stroke!”, it did not go down well with Chennai Super Kings and Dhoni fans.

There were a lot of replies to this tweet, including one from Ravindra Jadeja as well.

While Dhoni was retained by the CSK last year ahead of the Mega Auctions, Gambhir has been roped in as mentor of the newly formed Lucknow franchise in the upcoming edition of the IPL.

According to some reports, this tweet can also add fuel to the fire between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders as both of them were finalists in the 2021 season of the IPL.
