India opener, KL Rahul has successfully undergone a sports hernia surgery in Germany.

He will now be rehabbing at the National Cricket Academy which will take him around six to 12 weeks to recover.

Furthermore, Rahul posted a tweet where he gave an update regarding his surgery.

The minimum recovery for an athlete from a sports hernia injury is about two months.

Rahul was a successful captain for the new franchise, Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL this year.

He finished the season as the second-highest run-getter with 616 runs in his 15 matches.

Rahul had an average of 51.33 and a strike rate of 135.38.

Jos Buttler received the orange cap for scoring the highest amount of runs.

The BCCI and the selectors decided to make Rahul the captain in the home series against South Africa.

However, Rahul suffered a right groin just before the start of the series.

Therefore, Rishabh Pant led the team in Rahul’s absence after which the series ended 2-2 with the last match going without a result.

Recently, Hardik Pandya led India to a glorious victory over Ireland and completed the series 2-0.

Moreover, Rahul was not considered either for the Ireland T20I series or the 5th Test against England.
