Kounde Set for a Major Barcelona Contract Extension

Jules Kounde is here to stay-bar a man with an island, a treasure chest and a magic lamp. However, they are preparing to reward Catalan giants’ defensive maestro with a new contract and well overdue salary bump to see him remain at the club until 2030.

It is also because Barcelona have improved financial health which has allowed them to act swiftly with Chelsea looming like a neighbour looking over your Wi-Fi password. A lucrative new deal would also not only keep him in the side but also secure Flick’s unadulterated defensive strategy.

Kounde: A Key Piece in Flick’s Masterplan

Losing Kounde is not an option, as Hansi Flick has made it clear. The 26-year-old is a first pick of the Barcelona defense, and has featured in 21 of Barcelona’s 23 league games this season. Kounde is such a versatile player he can play either as a center back or right back and he is indispensable.

Situated more on financial worry yet, the club is devout toward this renewal to shield their defensive line from harm. They know that Barcelona can’t afford to lose another ‘free transfer heartbreak’ as we’ve seen in the past.

Chelsea’s €100M Temptation: Why Barca Won’t Budge

Chelsea, flailing to get Reece James’ persistent injuries under control, are thought to, at least, be willing to dish out a cracking €100M for Kounde. That’s a sum that would make anyone revise their life choices, but Barcelona appear resolute in their refusal.

How could Kounde be tempted by the Premier League challenge? Maybe. Flick however is not willing to lose one of his most trusted defender but he wants other sales first before considering losing the player. Kounde’s improved contract continues as he becomes further clear of imminent departure of Ansu Fati.

What This Means for Barcelona’s Future

The Barcelona has continued to build a long term squad foundation by extending Kounde’s contract. Still, they want to secure their key players financially despite facing tough times.

This also signals that La Blaugrana are no longer a ‘selling club’ for Europe’s elite. But they are creating new and staying with talent, and preparing for sustained success.
