Journalist Lewis Steele recently shares a big news about Everton. Steele claims that Everton have rejected a huge bid for their midfield player Abdoulaye Doucore last month. The £20m star was on the target of Middle East and now the report from Lewis has affirmed it.
The Toffees are currently struggling in the Premier League for their existence there. Sean Dyche’s side was charged 10 points for the FFP charges and were also unable to make any move in January. They currently are in the relegation zone and nothing looks going in the way for Merseyside club. However, the only positives Dyche has is that his players Amadou Onana and Abdoulaye Doucore are still at the club.
Speaking on It’s All Kicking Off podcast, Lewis Steele says Everton actually had interest from Saudi Arabia in Doucoure but they turned it down.
“The Saudis, they came knocking slightly for Abdoulaye Doucoure. I was told it was never really a serious worry from Everton’s perspective but when the Saudis come knocking you feel if they say ‘here’s £50m’ then it’s always going to come back to bite them. Doucoure’s Everton’s best player I think. If they lost him then I think that would genuinely have tipped them over the edge.”
Abdoulaye has been one of the best players for Everton alongside Onana so far. It is due to the efforts of these men, Everton have produced some big moments. Hence, it is very important for Dyche to keep hold of his man if he wants to remain in the top flight.
However, in the summer transfer, the clubs will be more busy and Everton’s need of money may force them for a move. Till then, they will be focusing on avoiding the relegation anyhow.
