Liam Delap is now a summer target for Chelsea

Chelsea have identified Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap as a potential summer move.

Liam Delap has been impressive for Ipswich Town this campaign. He has got a lot of attention from other Premier League sides for this summer. Manchester United and Chelsea are seem to be interested in the forward. His current value could be around ยฃ40 million.

The ex-Man City academy player is doing a great job with Ipswich at the moment. His side are in the relegation zone. And they are fighting to keep their place in the top-flight division.

He scored against Bournemouth earlier this week. They currently sit on 18th place in the league table with 20 points from 30 games. There are still eight matches to go before the season ends. The Tractor Boys’ will look to climb up some places to keep themselves in the league for the next campaign as well.

Top clubs have got their eyes on Delap after his side’s relegation situation. Manchester United have also joined the race alongside the Blues for the attacker. Both of these clubs are looking for a new finisher. So there’s no doubt in their interest in the player.

Although, Man City have a buyback clause in the deal with Ipswich as per reports.

Delap’s Ipswich career so far

The England U21 forward joined the Tractor Boys’ from Man City last year for a fee around ยฃ20 million. He has been impressive for his side from the start of this season. In his first eleven games, he managed to score six times in the Premier League.

Although, he has seen some decline in his goalscoring form since then. He has only netted four goals in his last 17 games.

His side is now fighting in the relegation zone. Should they get demoted, there is a clause in Liam’s current contract which will be activated, as per the Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old striker is not a regular goal scorer, his playing style makes him different. He could be a good fit for the west London side. That could be the reason for their interest in him.
